Open house: East Paskapoo Slopes redevelopment

The City is hold two information sessions to share the revised application to redevelop a piece of Paskapoo Slopes east of Canada Olympic Park.

"Following public engagement that took place in the summer, the applicant has recently provided a revised proposal," said David Couroux, senior planner with the City's Planning Department. "We've had a chance to review the revised application and would like to not only share this with the public, but gather feedback specific to building  heights and visual impacts to help further refine the plan."

Trinity Development Group has plans to bring a development plan to the table in City council this summer.

The 81-hectare piece of land has been used throughout the years as parkland, 65-hectares of which would be retained as parkland with the remainder developed into what's been dubbed an "urban village".

Some local residents, looking to retain the land as a natural park are speaking out against the proposal via social media.

The public sessions will include a series of panels explaining details of the revised proposal with City staff on hand to discuss details and answer questions.

In order to accommodate the proposed development, the land must be rezoned and the area structure plan requires amendment. Both the rezoning and the amended Area Structure Plan must be approved by the City council for the development proposal to proceed.
