Located just minutes from the Calgary International Airport, the established community of Saddle Ridge, and its community-within-a-community extension Savanna, are attracting homebuyers in droves, thanks to the area’s strong sense of community and affordable home prices.
Saddle Ridge is a diverse community, with many new Canadians calling it home. It’s also quite populous, with almost 22,500 residents, making it the city’s third-largest community behind Panorama Hills and the Beltline.
Savanna adds another 320 acres of developed land to the mix, along with a variety of amenities, including six playgrounds and parks, a regional pathway system, and two school sites.
“We are really creating a community that has the convenience of accessibility and amenities at your doorstep,” said Travis Putnam, project manager for Genstar Development Company, the developer behind Savanna.
He says the community’s greatest advantage is its location, accessible via Métis Trail and 80th Avenue N.E.

“It’s the closest new master-planned community in the northeast to already established amenities in Saddle Ridge, including road networks and the Saddletowne LRT Station, connecting residents to the inner-city,” he said.
At final build-out, Savanna will add another 6,400 residents to Saddle Ridge’s population.
In 2020, new lots and home styles will launch in the community. The builder group includes Homes by Avi, Excel Homes, Cardel Homes, Prominent Homes, Arcturus Homes, Klair Custom Homes and Rohit Communities.
For those who prefer a resale home, the established section of Saddle Ridge offers a generous variety of styles and price points.
- The Genesis Centre offers a full complement of fitness, health and recreation services, including a branch of the Calgary Public Library, and indoor and outdoor soccer fields.
- Situated in the middle of the community, the Saddletowne park-and-ride CTrain station ferries residents into the inner-city and beyond.
- Plenty of great shopping destinations are available nearby – CrossIron Mills and the newly launched New Horizon Mall are both only a 15-minute drive away.
- According to City of Calgary projections, Saddle Ridge’s population is expected to grow by 50 per cent over the next 12 years.
