Borealis Home

Here is a sneak peek of the Borealis Home that the Team Albert Solar Decathlon team, encompassed of over 150 students from all over Canada, has built and will enter into competition in the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon in Irvine, California.

Alexandre Ste-Marie, the project manager of Team Alberta described the Borealis home as have a "social purpose." Efforts to make the house, affordable and sustainable for placement in remote regions were apparent.

The house itself is 900 sq.ft. and intended for two people, has plants in the bathroom, is decorated with a lot of wood and has walls of windows.

University of Calgary Provost Dru Marshall recognizes the project as a showcase for what is supposed to happen at universities - leadership, teamwork and practical experience for the real world.
