Calgary's Fastest Growing Community

It appears Calgarians are voting for Panaroma Hills as Calgary's most popular community in the form of moving vans and cardboard boxes. Having grown by nearly 2,400 residents according to the 2012 Civic Census - more than any other community in the city – the appeal of the area is obvious.

The Robsons are one of the many families who have chosen to make Panorama Hills their new home in 2012. The Robsons were attracted by the affordability and amenities available in the area. "We looked in several neighbourhoods in the NW and quickly narrowed it down to Panorama Hills because of all the amenities the community offered as well as the availability of new, move-in ready homes," said Andrea Robson who, along with her husband Steve, moved from their former home in Hidden Valley to a larger house in Panorama to accommodate their growing family.

With two young children, one of the paramount concerns for the Robsons was the ability to keep their kids occupied, as the couple plans on calling the area home for some time.

"There are at least three parks within a few minutes walk, lots of green space and walking paths, a splash park, and plenty of other young families around," said Andrea. "There are also elementary and a junior high school so our kids hopefully won't have to be bussed to another area of Calgary for school."

Since they moved to the area in April, Andrea said they've seen plenty of other families in similar situations move to the neighbourhood, lured by the same combination that drew her family there.

"We have seen many other young families in the area," she said. "Panorama Hills has a variety of single- family and multi-family dwellings so it appeals to a wide variety of people including young families."

Cardel-Place---webCardel Place
Just a five-minute drive away from Panorama Hills sits one of Calgary's premiere recreation centres. Boasting two NHL sized arenas, three gymnasiums, a fitness and weight room centre, a multi-component aquatic facility and its own branch of the Calgary Public Library, Cardel Place has welcomed more than eight million guests since it first opened in 2004. The 195,000 sq. ft. facility offers more than 80 weekly drop-in classes and activities, and has daily drop-in passes as well as monthly memberships.

West-Nose-Creek---webWest Nose Creek
A lesser-known cousin of sorts to Nose Hill Park, West Nose Creek Park, also known as Confluence Park, lies along both banks of West Nose Creek near its confluence with Nose Creek in Calgary's northeast. The 73-hectare park was created in the early 1990s. The park is home to several significant archaeological sites, not the least of which is Split Rock. The uplands have been farmed since the late 1800's and a stone quarry operated for several years near the west end. Stone from this quarry was used to build many of the historic buildings in Calgary— once known as the "Sandstone City".

Country-Hills-Golf-Club---webCountry Hills Golf Club
While snow may still blanket the fairways and greens of most courses in the Calgary area, Panorama Hills residents can rejoice in the fact that one of the city's premiere courses is nearby. Site of this summer's PGA Tour Canada ATB Financial Classic, Country Hills is a private memberowned golf club, set in the spectacular hillside of the Sandstone Valley. Featuring five lakes and West Nose Creek, the Thomas McBroom designed Talons course and Ridge course offer some of the best golf in the city.
