Living in the inner city for a year, rent free?
Such just one of the perks offered by the Calgary Municipal Land Corp. (CMLC) with partners FRAM + Slokker and Embassy BOSA and Knightsbridge Homes for Calgary’s “best job” offer acting as the Resident Ambassador for the re-emerging community.
“2015 is our Year of the Resident – the year the first new residents are moving into the revitalized EAst Village,” said Susan Veres, CMLC’s vice-president of Marketing and Communications. “To celebrate this milestone and give Calgarians a vivid glimpse of the East Village lifestyle, we’re seeking to hire the neighbourhood’s first Resident Ambassador – someone who will live here for a year and share the experience through social media and the East Village blog.
“In essence, he or she will be our ‘Storyteller in Residence’ – attending our events and celebrations, connecting with our development partners and new residents, seeing and experiencing all that East Village has to offer, and then using various channels to get the word out.”
The selected ambassador will live in the East Village rent free for a year, six months in FRAM + Slokker’s FIRST and the remaining six in Embassy BOSA’s Evolution. A monthly paycheque and furniture allowance are also included in the contract.
In return, the winning applicant will devote 25 hours a month writing and reporting on life in East Village – celebrations, fellow residents, construction milestones and other areas of interest. The applicants work will appear on the East Village website and social media channels.
The CMLC said the ideal candidate is one who is passionate, community-minded, socially aware, culturally conscious and an urban explorer. One with a flair for storytelling, an intimate familiarity with Calgary’s cultural scene, a captivating style and an enthusiastic endorsement of the lifestyle CMLC is shaping in East Village.
