30 Years of HOPE

CREB®'s Charitable Foundation celebrates 30th anniversary

Most will gift pearls to celebrate their 30-year anniversary, but CREB®'s Charitable Foundation is going the more practical route with a gift of $300,000 to support local non-profits through its Investing in HOPE program.

Since 1987, the Charitable Foundation has contributed more than $6 million to more than 150 non-profit organizations in the community.

"The Investing in HOPE program is so special for so many reasons," said Aneve MacKay-Lyons, manager of CREB®'s Charitable Foundation.

"Our 30-year legacy has helped numerous charities and with this being one of our biggest funding initiatives ever, we're about to be a part of something incredibly impactful for local families and the community."

Investing in HOPE was created to support communities where REALTORS® live and work, and provides one-time grants through a Realtor-directed selection process.

The foundation awards grants to shelter and community-related non-profit organizations in Calgary and surrounding areas, and in turn, helps the community grow stronger.

"Through the Charitable Foundation, Calgary's area Realtors have worked together to develop innovative and impactful solutions for our community," said Alan Tennant, CEO for CREB®.

A selection committee will determine the top three nominated organizations to participate on the Investing in HOPE voting website. All nominated organizations must either support affordable housing or shelter-related initiatives, or initiatives that enhance or provide sustainability for the community.

Depending on the number of votes that each charity collects, the finalists will receive one of three grants for $125,000, $100,000 or $75,000.

"The most interesting thing about Investing in HOPE is that it is a grassroots program," said Rob Campbell, president of CREB®'s Charitable Foundation.

"It's very unique because Realtors can put forward a charity that they, or one of their clients, are involved with, which allows them to see the result of that giving."

While nominations cannot be submitted by members of the public, they are still encouraged to get involved in the conversation by contacting their real estate professional to cast their vote.
Nominations are open until Friday, June 30. The voting period runs from Friday, Aug. 11 to Friday, Sept. 1.
