The 27th annual SAM Awards will be presented this month by Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Calgary Region. Celebrating innovation and excellence in the Calgary and area’s residential construction industry, the full list of finalists for the 2013 SAM Awards have been announced.
The SAM Awards Gala takes place on March 29th at the Telus Convention Centre, where the top five entries in each category will be featured.
“Once again, the new home industry in Calgary continues to amaze,” said Shane Wenzel, co-chair of the SAM committee for CHBA – Calgary Region. “No matter the economy, no matter whether builders are busy, the industry puts on their best year after year. It’s that winning combination of value, innovation, excitement and quality, that makes the SAM Awards so coveted. When you have such a competitive industry like we have here in Calgary, everyone puts out their best – and the homebuyers are the winners.”
There are over 150 volunteer judges that are involved in the judging process. The submissions are first reviewed to ensure they are completed and qualify for the specific category.
The finalists were chosen from 776 entries through a thorough, detailed process that involves industry judges awarding points, which are then authenticated by an accounting firm. There are a total of 57 awards in 10 different categories.
“These prestigious awards are taken very seriously by us and those in the industry,” said Wendy Going, the other SAM co-chairman. “That’s why the competition is so well respected in the industry – and why homebuyers look for the SAM birds from the builders who have soared high enough to capture the silver goose. The winners are truly the best-of-the-best in the Calgary region.”
The SAM Awards categories include: Advertising & Marketing Awards, Developer Awards, Industry Achievement Awards, Multi-Family Awards, New Home Awards, Partner Awards, Renovator Awards, Sales Achievement Awards, Sales & Information Centre Awards and the GRAND SAM Awards. The GRAND SAM Awards are presented to the builder, renovator and partner who have demonstrated a superior achievement in design, sales, advertising and service.
The SAM Awards were first introduced, at the 1986 President’s Ball, the awards recognized products entered in the annual “Parade of Homes”. Interest in the awards grew, so the program was expanded to include more aspects of the home building industry in and around Calgary.
